Aims and outcomes

The program aims to prepare graduates for a career in the science and technology of sustainable energies. It is highly interdisciplinary and covers various areas in renewable energy science and technologies, energy management, environmental monitoring as well as social studies.

The curriculum provides students with theoretical knowledge and a broad exposure in the topics of energy harvesting, storage, conservation and energy economics. It also provides hands-on training experience through various projects and experiments in environment monitoring, low-carbon technology, wave energy harvesting, automated solar tracker, photovoltaic devices, solid-state lighting, and many others. The program also actively seeks internship opportunities in relevant industries, research institutions, organizations and the existing local/international links to our students to make them more competitive in their career endeavor.

The programme aims to further the training of graduates for a career in energy management and renewable energy technologies. The programme exposes the highly interdisciplinary nature of green energy technology as it encompasses the fields of materials science, renewal energy technologies, and the social implications they have on human activities. Though the programme is managed by the Department of Physics, the content of the programme is not restrictive only to physical science instructions, but also covers the areas of energy production, energy usage, energy audit, energy economics, energy management, environmental monitoring and hands-on experience.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants should normally hold a Bachelor's degree for admission to a Taught Postgraduate degree programme; English Language Requirements: TOEFL - 550 (Paper-based), 79 (Internet-based); or IELTS (Academic): Overall Band at 6.5; or CET-6 (College English Test band 6): 450.
