专业概况

Aims

This Programme, Master of Science in Applied Economics (MScAEcon), provides theoretical and applied training in economic analysis. By taking various applied electives, in addition to the theoretical cores, students will be trained to analysing economic issues relevant to their work. A distinct feature of this MScAEcon Programme is the balanced training in economic knowledge. Specifically, this Programme aims at training:

• Competent applied economists: The Programme offers applied economic courses in Hong Kong. These courses will analyse the relevant areas using the latest economic models. The Programme curriculum also consists of courses for analysing the Chinese economy, which is the current focus of the world.
• Potential theoretical researchers: Although we expect that most students entering into this Programme are applied oriented, this Programme is also well structured to provide students the flexibility of choosing appropriate electives to cater for future research oriented studies.

The programme's Learning Goals are listed below:

• Students will acquire advanced knowledge for analysing economic issues.
• Students will be able to analyse the economic behaviour of various agents and institutions in the economy.
• Students will be able to apply theories to analyse real world problems.
• Students will be able to apply economic theories and empirical methods in applied economic research.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants should normally hold a Bachelor's degree for admission to a Taught Postgraduate degree programme; English Language Requirements: TOEFL - 550 (Paper-based), 79 (Internet-based); or IELTS (Academic): Overall Band at 6.5; or CET-6 (College English Test band 6): 450.
