专业概况
在这里学什么?Society has been fundamentally altered by new developments in communication. As a communication student, you will study everything from the foundations of communication theory to where the latest advances will take us tomorrow. You will explore social, cultural, rhetorical and organizational communication processes. The result: an understanding of and ability to manage communication in education, politics, management and marketing, in government and nongovernmental institutions alike.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the Communication degree program you should be able to:
describe and explain the major foundations, perspectives, issues, and theories of communication as a result of your engagement with multiple scholarly approaches to inquiry and research within the discipline;
demonstrate an understanding of the methods and issues connected with both a social scientific approach and a qualitative/cultural approach to the study of communication through the informed production and consumption of research, analysis and reasoning;
understand an array of effects associated with exposure to mass media in order to: (a) analyze and evaluate mediated messages, (b) consume communication critically, and (c) determine how best to engage with diverse forms of messaging;
demonstrate the ability to both understand and produce effective oral, written, virtual and mediated communication by adapting your own public discourse to diverse audiences within multiple contexts.
