Programme Structure

Offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Shek Mun Campus of the College of International Education (CIE), the Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Psychology is specially designed for holders of Associate Degree (AD) from CIE and other equivalent AD or Higher Diploma programmes who wish to pursue psychology as their field of studies.

Programme Features and Aims

• Fostering students’ interest in the study of human mind and behaviour by laboratory and practicum experience.
• Providing students with a solid training in the theoretical, empirical and applied aspects of psychology.
• Allowing students to acquire a thorough understanding of psychological principles and apply them in the areas of clinical and educational psychology and in various settings.
• Equipping students with the essential knowledge and skills in conducting research in psychology and related fields.

Career Prospects for Graduates

Our programme is designed to prepare students for careers in psychology and related fields, such as social services, education, research, health care, communication, and different careers in helping professional and commercial settings. Graduates are eligible to apply for postgraduate programmes in the above areas, as well as membership with the Hong Kong Psychological Society (HKPS), the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Australian Psychological Society (APS) (membership applications are assessed on individual basis for these societies).

Programme Structure

This four-year full-time honours undergraduate programme caters for Associate Degree or Higher Diploma graduates majoring in Psychology. Students with an Associate of Science or Higher Diploma in Psychology or equivalent may apply for direct admission to Year Three of the programme and to complete a total of 66 units for graduation.
