专业概况

The Reading, Literacy and Learning program provides teachers the opportunity to investigate research-based theories in reading and writing, put theory into effective practice, and examine how culture impacts teaching and learning.

Our program focuses on producing competent teacher-leaders equipped to teach literacy across the curriculum within the parameters of researched-based literacy techniques and assessment.

We offer full-time and part-time master’s programs and a professional endorsement for teachers who have a master’s degree. The part-time master’s program is taught in a hybrid format providing the perfect combination of online and face to face classes.

Accreditation

The program is endorsed by the accreditation agency Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) as well as the Virginia Department of Education Licensure Regulations for School Personnel and follows the Standards for Reading Professionals published by the International Literacy Association (ILA).
