专业概况

The Bachelor of Interior Architecture is a 4-year professional degree accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation that prepares students to become certified interior designers. Our innovative approach to education integrates ongoing, real-world design practice with traditional classroom learning.

BAC students build their design and creative abilities in a core studio learning sequence, supported by drawing and software courses. Students study building systems to understand what is practical and study design history and theory to explore what is possible. Undergraduate students benefit from a full offering of liberal education courses. All students receive guidance in pursuit of concurrent practice experience in design firms, community projects, research, and independent projects.

The student moves through three phases in their course of study: Segment I is a Foundation program in which visual design skills are gained. The studio learning environment begins with design principles in an interdisciplinary setting, from which the student progresses to interior architecture-focused projects. Design media skills, including both hand-drawing and computer software, are taught alongside the studios.

In Segment II, Integration, students take advanced studios in interior architecture and apply principles of color, sustainable design and building systems in their work.

In Segment III, Synthesis, the student completes a two-semester Degree Project, a comprehensive design exploration encompassing the full range of skills and knowledge acquired in the program.

Segments I and II each culminate in a portfolio, submitted to the faculty for review and approval to move to the next level. The student is expected to begin working in the interior architecture industry by the third semester of the program, and continue in concurrent practice with the goal of accumulating 3600 hours of work experience and a practice skill level of 8 (see Practice). For a full-time student, this program can be completed in 10 semesters.

为来自中国的学生设计 International students who hold a US high school diploma or the equivalency of a US high school diploma (completion of secondary education). English proficiency score: TOEFL score of 79, IELTS minimum band score of 6.5, PTE score of 53, or a Cambridge English Scale score of 176-184.
