The Master of Global Health at the Sydney School of Public Health focuses on preparing graduates to work to improve the health of populations in the global context. The course has a specific focus on achieving equity in health for people worldwide and on preparing you to apply public health principles in some of the most challenging and demanding conditions in the world.

Outstanding graduates may be eligible to pursue a higher degree by research in the courses of Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Philosophy offered by Sydney School of Public Health. A research degree provides students with the opportunity to prepare a substantial piece of work which represents a significant contribution in a particular field of study; and to gain transferable skills in general research methodology. Sydney School of Public Health is affiliated with over 40 independent medical research institutes aimed at achieving medical firsts in specialist areas of health and medicine. It provides an outstanding environment for postgraduate research. Sydney School of Public Health research activities consistently attract high levels of funding from the Commonwealth and state governments, overseas funding agencies and other public and private sources.

Graduate opportunities

The Master of Global Health will lead to hands on careers in public health, i.e. working with people in the field, as well as research-oriented jobs which involve conducting studies and examining overall health trends.

Careers in public health include public health officer in a health service, public health advisor to an international aid agency or government department in a developing country, or a researcher at a university or research centre.

Graduates of the Master of Global Health are able to obtain employment with non-government organisations (NGO's) internationally and in Australia, government ministries in developing countries, multilateral and bilateral agencies (such as the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the United Nations or the World Health Organization), Australian health services and academic institutions.

为来自中国的学生设计 Applicants need to have one of the following: a bachelor’s degree with first or second-class honours from the University of Sydney or another approved institution; an equivalent qualification that demonstrates sufficient research experience and capability. English Language Requirements: TOEFL - IBT score: A minimum result of 96 overall including a minimum result of 17 in Reading, Listening and Speaking and 19 in Writing; IELTS score: A minimum result of 7.0 overall and a minimum result of 6.0 in each band; TOEFL - PBT score: A minimum result of 592 overall including a minimum result of 4.5 in Writing.
